Kutaisi isn't a connecting hub
Almost nobody transfers through Kutaisi between two other flights — it's a point-to-point airport, so a 'layover' here usually means hours to spare before an early departure or right after a late arrival, not a connection between flights.
An hour or two: stay airside
With the terminal's one duty-free shop and two coffee shops, a short gap is best spent inside rather than heading into the city — factor in check-in and security time before you decide.
Three to four hours: a quick trip into Kutaisi
The shuttle bus or a taxi (25–45 minutes each way) makes a fast look at Bagrati Cathedral, right in the city on its hilltop, realistically doable — just don't cut the return trip close.
Five hours or more: Gelati and Prometheus Cave
With a full afternoon, a taxi or transfer can reach Gelati Monastery (about 20 minutes away) or Prometheus Cave (around 23 km, with an underground boat ride) and back with time to spare.
An early flight tomorrow?
Because so many Wizz Air departures from Kutaisi leave early morning, many travelers book a night in Kutaisi city rather than trying to arrive from Tbilisi on the day itself.
